New Quick Share is rolling out to all Galaxy phones and tablets!

Earlier this month, Google and Samsung announced that they have merged their wireless file-sharing systems, integrating Google’s Nearby Share with Samsung’s Quick Share. The new version of Quick Share debuted on the Galaxy S24 series and is now rolling out to other Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Samsung has released an update for three apps on the Galaxy Store: Quick Share, Quick Share Agent, and Quick Share Connectivity. These updates are available for download on Galaxy phones and tablets running One UI 6.0 or older. Once updated, users will see the new Quick Share icon in the share menu. The Nearby Share feature will eventually be removed by Google after the release of the new GMS Update. Non-Samsung Android smartphones will also receive the Quick Share feature this month, replacing Nearby Share.

The updated Quick Share allows users to see nearby compatible devices directly in the sharing menu. When clicking on the Quick Share icon, a full-screen menu appears with more options, including sharing via QR code and wirelessly sharing files with contacts. The sharing limit has also been increased from 3GB to 5GB, providing an improvement over the previous version of Quick Share.

In addition, Samsung has announced that Quick Share and Nearby Share apps for Windows will be merged in the third quarter of 2024, allowing wireless file-sharing with Android devices, Chrome OS-based computers, laptops, and TVs. The Quick Share app for Windows already features the new Quick Share icon.

With the rollout of the new Quick Share, users of Galaxy phones and tablets can now easily share files wirelessly with nearby devices and enjoy additional sharing options and larger file size limits. The integration of Google and Samsung’s file-sharing systems improves the overall sharing experience for Android users and will soon extend to Windows devices as well. Whether it’s sharing photos, documents, or other files, Quick Share provides convenience and efficiency in transferring files across different devices.
